Savannah East News
This past Friday, President Laura Lane McKinnon thanked all those members who participated in the Thanksgiving card service project with Senior Citizens, Inc.  RCSE touched the lives of 228 seniors with our cards!  Laura Lane also reminded everyone of the upcoming Holiday Social on Wednesday, December 8th.  More details about the event will be forthcoming.  Once all Rotary business items were discussed, fellow Rotarian Leslie Mattingly spoke to the club about the incredibly successful global grant  project she's been a part of in Puerto Rico.
It was nice to see so many faces at the meeting this past Friday.  Laura Lane asked all members to mark December 8th on their calendar for the annual RCSE Holiday Party.  More information about the event will be forthcoming!  After all Rotary items were discussed, Ed Engel introduced our speaker for the day, PDG Hamsa Thota who spoke about how Rotary Foundation funds are making an impact both locally and around the world.
The start of November has been a great one for RCSE.  On Saturday, November 6th, members braved the rain and cold in order to come together for the November Service Project at America's Second Harvest.  In just two short hours, members were able to assemble 447 boxes of food! That equates to 8.94 pallets.  Each box feeds a family of four for 3 days.  That's quite an impact RCSE has made for our community.  It's opportunities like this that demonstrate the power that each of us can make.  It's 'Service Above Self' come to life!

And then on Tuesday, November 9th, there was a gathering at Tubby's Tank House in Thunderbolt for an evening of fun!  It was great to see so many members, spouses, & friends... but best of all, we got to celebrate our friend Gordon with a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday!! Thank you to everyone who has been able to participate in RCSE events over the past week.

Also, don't forget about our ongoing Service Project with Senior Citizens, Inc.  The Service Project committee purchased several hundred Thanksgiving cards and we'll be partnering with the Meals on Wheels program of Senior Citizens, Inc. (SCI) to distribute the cards to homebound and isolated seniors the week of Thanksgiving.  If you have completed your cards, please bring them to the meeting on Friday, November 12th or Friday, November 19th.

Mark your calendar for December 8th for the December Social where we will sing holiday carols at The Tiny House Village.  More details about the event will be forthcoming.  RCSE looks forward to seeing everyone then!
Although the weather was dreary, fun was still had at the RCSE meeting this past Friday!  RCSE had the chance to welcome back one of our own, Wade Herring, who was re-inducted into the club after a brief hiatus. A Past-President of RCSE, we are delighted to have Wade back with us again!  November is Rotary Foundation Month and our speakers this month will talk about how Rotary Foundation funds are making an impact in the world.  On Friday, fellow Rotarian Marion Curry of the Tifton club spoke about the Uganda Water Project that was made possible in part by Rotary Foundation Funds.
