This past Friday, RCSE had a packed house! At the beginning of the meeting, President Jason Jones presented a $1,000 check to The Dive who was our charity partner for funds raised from Happy, Raffle and Fines. The Dive works tirelessly to serve our veteran and homeless community and RCSE is happy to help with this donation to help them in their work. After the check was presented, a new charity was drawn. The recipient of our next $1,000 will be Blessings in a Bookbag! After all Rotary business items were discussed, Laura Lane introduced our speaker for the day who was Matt Seale who talked about his Small Town Podcast.

It was wonderful to see so many members and guests at our first meeting in the calendar year! Marianne Ganem-Poppell and Katie Gingrich completed all Red Badge requirements and became Blue Badges at the meeting. Judge Colbert spoke to the club about the Read United which is the event that will be replacing Rotary Read in. More information about this will be forthcoming but it is scheduled for Friday, February 24th so please mark your calendars! After all Rotary business was discussed, Katie Gingrich introduced our speaker for the day, Gene Dobbs Bradford, who is the Executive Director for Savannah Music Festival.
We closed out the calendar year with another fantastic meeting! Tonya Hillis gave her Member Minute, President Jason Jones reminded everyone of the upcoming December Social and Service Project, and Gordon Matthews gave a brief history lesson on women in Rotary! Once all business items were discussed, Laura Lane introduced our speaker for the day, Joe Marchese, who spoke on behalf of the Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society.
This is a reminder that Holiday Cards need to be brought back to the meeting ASAP. Tonya Hillis and Laura Lane McKinnon will be delivering them to various nursing homes December 19 - December 21. Therefore, we need everyone to please bring them to the meeting this Friday, December 9th. Laura Lane will also be able to collect them at the RCSE Holiday Party on Wednesday, December 14th. Thank you so much for participating in this December service project!
