Savannah East News
It was a great Friday for a presentation from our own Terry Enoch on Race Relations and Equity.  President Laura Lane McKinnon announced that she is working on putting together a socially distanced social hour in order for our members to get together and see each other face to face.  Details are still in the work so stay tuned for more information about the gathering.  Once all Rotary Business items were discussed, Chief Terry Enoch spoke to the club.
This past Friday, RCSE was fortunate to hear from Dr. Mohamed Mukhtar who is a professor at Savannah State University.  The talk was fascinating, informative and educational!  Dr. Mukhtar is originally from Somalia, has been a Fulbright Scholar twice and holds a PhD from an Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt.  He spoke to the club about teaching African History in an American University.
The members of RCSE were fortunate to hear from Bridget Ledy and Bret Bell on the Zoom Meeting today.  Before they spoke, President Laura Lane McKinnon read a note to that Harriet Meyerhoff had written saying how much Eric loved being a member of our club.  Laura Lane then thanked everyone who had taken the time to fill out a meeting survey.  The Board will be discussing the results next Friday and will use the information to help formulate a plan for the upcoming months.  After all Rotary business items were discussed, John Neely introduced our speakers who talked about the new Arena Project and Canal District.
Another Friday and another great Zoom meeting!  President Laura Lane McKinnon reminded all members to please fill out the survey about In-Person vs. Zoom meetings.  The survey should only take 2-3 minutes and will help the Board plan accordingly for the next few months.  After all Rotary business items were discussed, Laura Lane introduced our speaker for the day - Dr. Mark Jenkins who is an orthopedic surgeon with Chatham Orthopedic Associates.
