Savannah East News
Gordon Matthews was our leader for the last Zoom meeting for the foreseeable future!  Gordon announced that starting next Friday, May 14, RCSE will only be meeting in person at The Pirates House.  He also reminded the membership that 4th quarter dues were sent via email and to please pay promptly.  Once all Rotary items were discussed, Gordon introduced our speaker, Rev Hunt Priest, who talked about psychedelics and religion.
RCSE's speaker this week zoomed in all the way from Alaska!  John Neely's son, Thomas, spoke to the club about the oil and gas industry and life in Alaska.  Before Thomas presented, President Laura Lane McKinnon announced that 4th Quarter dues had been emailed and to please pay promptly.  She also informed the club that there will be a reception in honor of Brendan Mungwena's graduation from Georgia Southern University on Sunday, May 8th, from 2-4 at Skidaway Community Church.  All members of RCSE are invited.  If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Sam Eskew.  Laura Lane thanked all members who were able to participate in the meeting last Friday.  She is asking a small group to help with action items and is hopeful to report back to the club by early June.  Once all Rotary business items were discussed, Tom Neely introduced his son, Thomas.
This past Friday, RCSE had a special called meeting of all members to discuss RI's global action plan of 1. increasing Rotary's impact, 2. expanding Rotary's reach, 3. enhancing Rotary's engagement, and 4. increasing Rotary's ability to adapt.  RI is challenging all clubs to engage their members and not just increase their membership.  Gordon Matthews facilitated the discussion with the use of the six thinking hats method.  A lot of thoughts and ideas were generated through engaging dialogue amongst those who were on the call.
