Savannah East News
It was another great day at The Pirates House!  Jennifer Graham was moved from a Red Badge to a Blue Badge, Bernadette Bryant gave a Member Minute, and Laura Ross was inducted into the club!  After all Rotary business items were discussed, Laura Lane McKinnon introduced our speaker for the day, Caleb Harkelroad, who spoke about his family business and diamonds.
It was another jammed pack but amazing meeting at Rotary Club of Savannah East this past Friday!  First up, we had Kim Tanner move from a Red Badge to a Blue Badge - congratulations Kim!  Then, the club welcomed four new member - Alan Fleming, Tonya Hillis, Tammy Stokes and Bill Von Alt.  Welcome to the club everyone!  The speaker that was scheduled for the week was unable to attend so we were able to have two Member Minutes  - Elizabeth Brown and Jennifer Graham.  Finally, we ended the meeting by starting to write heartfelt messages in holiday cards that we will deliver to local nursing homes & assisted living homes in December. Our ambitious goal is to have more than 400 cards to share with our friends & neighbors this holiday season — we’ll continue to work on them in the coming weeks and months.
During the month of September, Rotary Club of Savannah East will be collecting books for Haven Elementary!  The books will be used as Speaker Gifts and will then be donated in honor of the speaker to the Haven Media Center.  The librarian at Haven has put together an Amazon wish list of books.  When you click to purchase a book, please make sure the shipping address is to YOU.  Once you receive the book, you will then bring it to a meeting and give it to Kerri.  If you have any questions, please reach out to Andrew Cosey, Laura Lane McKinnon, or Kerri Culver.  Thank you for your support of the Haven Media Center!

It was a great meeting on Friday with many visiting Rotarians and guests!  We had visitors all the way from Serbia and a few GRSP (Georgia Rotary Student Program) students in attendance as well!  Additionally, there was a new member induction - Amanda Lolik-Grainger.  Welcome to the club, Amanda!  President Jason Jones asked members to write down a charity that they would like to see receive $1000 from the money raised through Raffle and Happy.  The Dive Savannah was the winner!  The Dive Savannah strives to support the Savannah community through several outreach initiatives such as operating an incoming day center for the homeless, providing food and necessities to four homeless camps, and helping struggling veterans.  Once all Rotary business items were discussed, Bob Ohrablo with the Savannah Ghost Pirates spoke about Savannah' new hockey team!
