Savannah East News
Instead of meeting at The Pirates House this Friday, RCSE will be moving refrigerators into the Tiny House Project.  The project starts at Noon and a boxed lunch will be served.  Please see below for details concerning the event!

When: Friday, May 10th from 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM
Where: 75 Dundee Street, Savannah GA.  This is just off Wheaton Street and behind the park (you can see the project from Wheaton and through the trees at the park).
Parking: There is street parking or if you prefer, you can park at 761 Wheaton Street (the 5 story DFCS building) and walk over.
Attire: Since we will be eating outside and moving refrigerators, please wear close toed shoes, hat, sunscreen and clothes that are okay to get dirty.
Service Project: The refrigerators are stored in a metal container on the site.  We will need to pull them out of the container, carry each one to a unit, remove the wrappings and discard the wrappings in the dumpster.
This week's speaker on May 17 is LTC Ken Dwyer who is the Garrison Commander of Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah.  LTC Dwyer will be transferring to a new position in June making this one of his final talks and it is not one to miss!

He graduated from Furman University with a degree in Health and Exercise Science in 1998 and received his commission into the US Army as an Infantry officer. LTC Dwyer served with the Infantry for 5 years before being selected and trained as a Special Forces Officer in 2003. In June of 2011 LTC Dwyer completed his Master’s degree in Defense Analysis at the Naval Post Graduate School (NPS) in Monterey, CA. LTC Dwyer's operational deployments include 4 tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

RCSE was fortunate enough to have a speaker drive down from Charleston to talk to club this past Friday.  Mac Burdette presented information about Patriot's Point, a Naval and Maritime Museum that has three ships over 75 years old, many interactive features, and land that spans 400 acres.
It has been a busy month at RCSE with two new member inductions!  This past Friday, the club inducted Dylan Anderson - welcome Dylan!  President Cindy Kelley asked for members to mark their calendar for Friday, May 10 for moving the refrigerators into the Tiny Houses.  This service project will replace our normal Friday meeting and will be held from 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM.  A boxed lunch will be served.  After all business items were discussed, Laura Lane McKinnon introduced our speaker for the day - Heather Merbs with Oatland Island Wildlife Center.
