Details for the January 21st Meeting

We will be meeting at The Pirates House this Friday in our normal meeting room - Captain Flints Hall.  The side door to the room will be unlocked if you would prefer to use that entrance. In an abundance of caution, please wear your mask to the meeting and keep it on at all times other than eating lunch.

Our speaker for the meeting this week is Kate Blair.  She will be speaking on Savannah CASA which is a program that recruits and trains volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children who have experienced abuse and neglect.  Their vision is a community where every child who has experienced abuse or neglect is given the opportunity to thrive in a safe and loving home.

There will be a new member induction this week - Elizabeth Brown.  Please show your support for her by attending this meeting. RCSE looks forward to seeing all members on Friday!
NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
January 7, 2022 - Meeting Recap
What a great way to ring in the New Year with a new member induction!  RCSE welcomed Katie Gingrich to the club this past Friday - congratulations Katie!  President Laura Lane McKinnon asked everyone to mark their calendars for Saturday, February 26th, for the Annual RCSE Oyster Roast.  Gordon Matthews has generously offered to host the event at his home on Tybee Island.  More information about the oyster roast will be forthcoming within the next few weeks.  Once all Rotary business items were discussed, Laura Lane introduced our speaker for the day, Jamey Espina.

Jamey Espina spoke to the club about the power of storytelling in all aspects of our life - both personal and professional.  Stories are how we effectively communicate.  When someone tells a story, it is easier for us to empathize with them.  Unfortunately, a whole generation is growing up without stories due to new technology.  Most kids only know how to text rather than talk on the phone.  Stories are an extremely important tool in building relationships, maintaining relationships, and in all areas of business.

The story movement has been around since the beginning of time.  In the early 1990's, Hospice Savannah became the first Hospice in the country to record the life stories of their patients.  In April 2022, Hospice Savannah will be hosting an Institute for Story conference in Savannah.  Speakers from all over the country will be presenting.  In order to learn more about the conference, please visit instituteforstory.com
