This past Friday, RCSE was lucky to have two speakers join us for our weekly meeting. Before the speakers presented, President Mark Sprosty reminded all members of the upcoming September Social at The Wyld on Thursday, September 27th. Once Raffle and Happy were complete, Kim Campbell introduced our two speakers - GRSP Student Sonali and Yoga Instructor Jonalyn.
Sonali was the first to present and began by giving a biography of herself as well as telling us about her country, Sri Lanka. She talked about their food, customs, exports, animals and showed us pictures of her beautiful country! Sonali then shared everything she has done since arriving in Savannah. She commented on the southern hospitality she has experienced and gave a heartfelt thank you to RCSE for allowing her this opportunity to study in Savannah.
Jonalyn then came up to talk about yoga. She specializes in Trauma Informed Yoga which focuses on creating a safe environment for people to heal. Yoga connects your mind, body and breath. It helps balance the nervous system. The nice thing about yoga is that you can practice it anywhere. Yoga has been shown to help individuals focus and be more productive and healthier. Jonalyn then lead us in a chair yoga demonstration. At the end of her presentation, she mentioned that she had taught yoga at Haven Elementary this past summer!
Thank you to both of our speakers for coming to RCSE!
