RCSE was lucky to have Georgia Rotary Student Program (GRSP) student Brendan Mungwena speak to our group today.  Brendan is from Zimbabwe which has a population of 14 million people.  Brendan's goal for his life is to spread peace through understanding.  He will be speaking at the One Young World conference where he will be preaching the gospel of peace.  He believes all people are really the same and it is our responsibility to make a difference in the world.

Brendan's sister introduced him to Rotaract which lead him to the GRSP program.  Four other students from Zimbabwe are studying this year with GRSP and there are students from Wales and Germany who are studying in Savannah.  Brendan said is has been a bit of a culture shock being in America.  For starters, the food is different and everything is bigger!  He has experienced a few first while here - seeing snow, petting a horse, traveling to Washington D.C. and New York City.  He said NYC had a lot going on and that he loved the theater.

While studying in America, Brendan set goals for himself which he feels he has exceeded.  He said it has been an eye opener to see other people help others just for the enjoyment of helping.  He has really enjoyed learning about another culture and the friendships he has made while here.  He especially thanked Laura Lane McKinnon for her generosity and love while he has been in Savannah.  Brendan is truly thankful for RCSE for helping sponsor him while he has been here.  RCSE wishes Brendan the best of luck in his future endeavors.  If his talk at the club is any indication of his future, he will be very successful in all he does!
