This past Friday, President Elect Ben Brewer presided over the meeting while President Beth Hancock was representing RCSE at the district conference. After all Rotary business items were attended to, Cindy Kelley introduced Bill Izzard who is the President of SCORE Chapter 70.

The vision of the organization is to make sure every person has the support necessary to thrive as a small business owner.  SCORE is a volunteer run business where volunteers spend 2 hours a week in face to face mentoring with individuals who are looking to start their own business.  SCORE advises clients at all points of the business life cycle. The volunteers for SCORE like to say they are not counselors but mentors because they show the clients how to do the research themselves.  A few suggestions from Bill about being a small business owner are: 1. Be sure to do a SWOT analysis throughout the course of your business. 2. If you do not like what you are doing, then don't do it.  3.  Remember, you are always selling.  4. Leverage your strengths.  Along with face to face sessions, SCORE offers seminars and helpful tips on their website.  There are 28 certified SCORE mentors in Savannah including our own Bruce Montgomery.  If you would like to learn more about SCORE, please visit their website: https://savannah.score.org/
