It was another great meeting this past Friday at The Pirates House!  President Jason Jones reminded members of the upcoming field trip to Mickve Israel on Friday, March 31.  If you would like to attend, please RSVP with Kerri as we need a headcount for the caterer.  Once all business items were discussed, Laura Lane introduced our speaker for the day, Michael Cox.

Michael Cox is a Physicians Assistant at Chatham Orthopaedic Associates.  He said that 1 in 2 adults are effected by muscoloskeletal problems.  The most common ailment is back pain and physical therapy is the first line of treatment.  He then discussed a variety of common problems as well as treatments.  He talked about shoulder pain, tennis elbow, hip pain, knee pain, plantar fasciitis and a few more common ailments.  He also advised several members on some issues they were having!  He explained that a cortisone shot is a steroid that helps with inflammation and is prescribed for any problem that has "itis" in it.  Finally, he asked what was the difference between a break and a fracture?  He said that there isn't a difference between the two because a fracture is any type of break in the bone.
