It was Officer Induction Day at RCSE this past Friday!  Sam Eskew, our Assistant District Governor, lead the officer induction.  The new officers are as follows:  Immediate Past President - Cindy Kelley, President - Laura Lane McKinnon, President Elect - Jason Jones, Treasurer - Bruce Montgomery, Secretary - Katie Wohlust, Sergeant at Arms - Mel Mrochinski.  In addition to these Board Members, Andrew Cosey will be chair of Service and Social Projects, Ben Lingle will also be chairing Service Projects, and Terry Enoch and Jeff Heeder will be our Membership Chairs.  Congratulations everyone!  President Laura Lane presented Cindy Kelley with a Paul Harris +2 and +3 pin and congratulated Andrew Cosey on completing his Red Badge requirements in order to become a Blue Badge.  Once all Rotary business items were finished, Laura Lane presented to the club a service project that will honor former member Eric Meyerhoff.

The River Street Tugboat Project is a project that the Meyerhoff and Gunn families are starting in order to honor Eric.  Eric was instrumental in 74 projects in historic Savannah.  According to Eric’s family, his most cherished professional project was the child-sized tugboat moored in a sandbox along River Street. Named Tinkerbell, it was a climbing structure lovingly designed for young children.  Sadly, Tinkerbell was removed in 2019.  As a wooden structure, she needed a considerable amount of restoration work.  The Meyerhoff and Gunn families have undertaken an effort to build a sturdier replica of Tinkerbell, which will hold up to Savannah’s heat and to the wear and tear of continuous use. To-date they’ve raised $12,395 towards a $15,000 goal on GoFundMe.

What can RCSE do to honor Eric?  1.  Contribute funds towards the GoFundMe from our Club Projects fund (and as private citizens!) (https://gofund.me/7c5c4e60). 2. Officially express our support for the project to the City of Savannah  3. Assist the Meyerhoff & Gunn families with identifying an appropriate fabricator. 4. Volunteer to assist with or help host the Ribbon Cutting ceremony when the new Tinkerbell is installed (2022-2023).  As more details about the project become available, Laura Lane will keep the membership informed as to how RCSE will be helping to honor Eric.
