This past Friday, RCSE had a packed house!  At the beginning of the meeting, President Jason Jones presented a $1,000 check to The Dive who was our charity partner for funds raised from Happy, Raffle and Fines.  The Dive works tirelessly to serve our veteran and homeless community and RCSE is happy to help with this donation to help them in their work.  After the check was presented, a new charity was drawn.  The recipient of our next $1,000 will be Blessings in a Bookbag!  After all Rotary business items were discussed, Laura Lane introduced our speaker for the day who was Matt Seale who talked about his Small Town Podcast.

Matt began his presentation with a little background about himself and how he became mayor of Ocilla, GA which is a town with a population of 3500.  He said most mayors in small communities become mayors for community service and not for political gain.  Ocilla was the setting for a podcast called Up and Vanished about the disappearance of Tara Grinstead who was a local high school teacher.  Due to Up and Vanished, Matt wanted to highlight the good things happening in small towns and not all the bad things and that was when Small Town Podcast was born.  He wants to enhance the brand of small towns and talk about the great quality of life people have living there.  Small Town Podcast is now in its 6th season and has interviewed people in small towns in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Georgia.  Matt then shared some heartwarming stories about people who have been featured on his podcast.  To learn more about Small Town Podcast, please visit https://smalltownpodcast.com/
