It was a gorgeous day for a RCSE meeting!  Kim Campbell announced that the membership survey would be available throughout the month of May and encouraged all members to take the time to fill it out as it helps in planning.  Once all Rotary business items were discussed, Andrew Cosey introduced Brendan Ferrara and Kate Keiser with EmployAbility, a local non-profit organization that offers enrichment and employment based services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Brendan began by giving a history of EmployAbility stating that it was founded in 1951 which means they are coming up on their 75th anniversary!  Kate said that through their enrichment programs, they are able to take participants (who are referred to as friends), into the community and volunteer.  They have a wonderful partnership with Union Mission where friends go weekly to help organize donated clothes.  They also have on campus activities which provide an opportunity for the friends to socialize and learn life skills.

The employment program helps friends write resumes, find jobs, and provide career coaches throughout the time of employment.  The Savannah community has been great in embracing those with disabilities that they currently have more business with openings than people who are able to fill them!  As members of the Savannah community, we can help support EmployAbility by volunteering at their office, attending events, donating money, and following them on social media.  Brendan concluded the presentation by asking everyone to please help spread the word about the services they offer.  To learn more about this program, please visit https://employabilityga.org/
