The Solar Death Ray

Wes Jackson is a maker in every sense of the word!  He has been inventing and building things since he developed dexterity.  Wes was born in Chad, Africa to two wildlife biologists. His family moved to the Athens, Georgia area when he was 5 years old, after his dad accepted a position with the University of Georgia.  Wes graduated college (for the first time) with a Bachelors degree in biological science.  He earned a second degree in agricultural engineering.  He began his first career as a civil engineer.  However, he realized that his true passion was helping people in a way that civil engineering didn't fulfill, so after some soul searching, Wes went back to school to earn a Bachelors degree in Nursing. In 2017, Wes was in the running for South Magazine's Greatest Nurses contest. 

Wes invented and built the Solar Death Ray, a mobile solar cooker, over 10 year ago.  He joins us to tell us about what inspired him to build the Solar Death Ray and to give us a demonstration.
