October Service project - Alzheimer's assocation walk on Saturday, october 3
Please join your fellow Rotarians by volunteering at the Alzheimer's Association Walk on Saturday, October 3, in Forsyth Park. We are looking for volunteers to set-up (7am - 9am), greet (8:30am - 10:30am), check in walkers at the registration table (8:30am - 10:30am), and hand out water at the water station (10:30am - 12:30pm). Please email Kerri at rotarysavannaheast@gmail.com if you are able to volunteer.
This past Friday, we had the pleasure of hearing from our GRSP Student, Sarah Gomez Jordan! Before Sarah began her presentation, President Conni Reynolds reminded all in attendance about upcoming dates and things to look forward to in the months ahead. After Happy dollars were collected and Rotary business items discussed, Bill Von Alt introduced Sarah!
Throughout Sarah's presentation about herself and her country, you could see the warm and energetic person she is! Sarah is majoring in Political Science and loves to read (both English and Spanish books) and do pilates. She modeled a native Columbian skirt and shared information about Columbian coffee and food. Sarah talked about her family, her culture and showed us photos of her country. She then shared some of the things she has participated in since arriving in Savannah and her bucket list items for the school year. Bill Von Alt encouraged all to get involved not only with Sarah but GRSP as well. He said getting involved can be as simple as taking Sarah to dinner or a movie. He concluded by stating they are still looking for host families for the weekend of October 16-18 when all 38 GRSP students will be in Savannah for the weekend. If you would like to learn more about GRSP, please contact Bill Von Alt or visit the GRSP website https://www.grsp.org/
