Felicia Brooks began her presentation with a history of Bethesda Academy from when it was formed as an orphanage to now as a private school for boys grades 6-12. Bethesda Academy has a 10 to 1 student to teacher ratio and prides itself on its small class room environment. Previously, they offered a boarding program for some of the boys but that program closed during Covid. Bethesda is a great place for students who need a smaller learning environment. Felicia gave an overview of the team and mentioned that the school is currently in the process of hiring a new Head of School since Dr. Mike Hughes announced his retirement. Bethesda offers work study, dual enrollment, as well as a few sports including football, golf, track and field and basketball. They are currently in the process of building a football stadium on campus which is perfect timing since they were State Champions this past season! The tuition for attending Bethesda Academy is $9000 per year. 76% of students receive a scholarship through the Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program. Students are eligible for this scholarship if they are transferring from a public to private school. For every $1 a parent spends on education, the school invests $10 in that student. The cattle program and rental of the grounds helps with the financial cost of the school. The Women's Board of Bethesda also contributes through fundraising and supports the teachers and students throughout the year.
