Join us this Friday to help us put together Welcome to the World packages during our meeting.  This will be our October Service Project.  These care packages will go to new mothers in Panama, Guatemala, and right here in Savannah. 

Chief Joseph ole Tipanko of the Ngong Hills of Kenya will discuss the culture and lifestyle of the pastoral Maasai and also provide cultural dancing and singing. He has made similar presentations across the East Coast and in the Western US. These trips serve as fund raising methods for the Maasai. Funds have gone to providing a well, feeding programs, health clinics, educational programs and most recently a rescue center for young ladies who need support.

Lizann Roberts will share what Coastal Georgia Indicators does and how the organization improves the Coastal Georgia community well-being by tracking local data related to health, quality of life, economy and education. She will share how to quickly access the data, how the group works with local organizations and what data is available. CGIC hosts and regularly updates the largest data hub in the Savannah area community with 250 community-level indicators covering four coastal counties. This data helps improve community well-being by engaging and leading the community to work collectively in its development of strategic priorities that guide policy, programs and resource allocation. CGIC is the responsible organization for the development, and with partners, the implementation of the Chatham Community Blueprint. CGIC has strength and capacity related to leadership, management, systems and partnerships.

Dr. Watts, the superintendent of SCCPS, will be giving us an update on Savannah Chatham County Public Schools. She aims to rally a village of educators, administrators and parents around raising students' literary rates.

City of Savannah Municipal Archives staff Luciana Spracher and Kelly Zacovic are bringing the Great Savannah Game Show to RCSE! Join us for a fun program of Savannah history and trivia formatted in the style of classic game shows.

Executive Director and Founder of Tharros Place, Julie Wade, and Kate Templeton, Tharros Place's Outreach Coordinator, will discuss human trafficking in Chatham County. Although this subject is heavy, the project of Tharros Place is inspiring. Tharros Place is the first residential facility for minor survivors of human trafficking in the Chatham County area. Julie and Kate will share how to protect our community from trafficking, how to identify signs and make reports, and share how to support survivors in our area. 

Savannah writer Wanda S. Lloyd, author of the memoir COMING FULL CIRCLE: From Jim Crow to Journalism, will describe her path -- from growing up in the Deep South during the era of Jim Crow, to rising to leadership positions in the nation's newspaper industry.
