This is a reminder that Holiday Cards need to be brought back to the meeting ASAP. Tonya Hillis and Laura Lane McKinnon will be delivering them to various nursing homes December 19 - December 21. Therefore, we need everyone to please bring them to our next two meetings on December 2nd and December 9th. Thank you so much for participating in this December service project!
Details for the December 2nd Meeting
We will be meeting at The Pirates House this Friday in our normal meeting room - Captain Flints Hall. The side door to the room will be unlocked if you would prefer to use that entrance.
Our speaker for the meeting this week is Susan Catron. Susan will talk with us about The Current, our area's premiere online investigative journalism source
There will be one new member inducted this week - Te Turner! Please show your support for him by attending this meeting. RCSE looks forward to seeing all members on Friday!
A few members had asked for a copy of the poem that Bill Von Alt read to the club for the invocation at the meeting on November 18th. Bill was kind enough to provide it. Please see below:
The author is reputed to be the ancient Chinese philosopher and founder of Taoism, Laozi (or, Lao Tzu, 老子).
It was another fabulous meeting for RCSE! This past week, Mark Friday filled in for Ed Engel on Fines. Let's just say a lot of money was collected! Many members had Happy dollars as well. As a reminder, once $1000 is raised through Fines, Happy and Raffle, the money will be donated to a local charity - The Dive Savannah. Marianne Ganem- Poppell gave her Member Minute. Once all Rotary business items were discussed, Sam Eskew (ADG) introduced Heather Kellen who is the District Governor for District 6920!
Heather talked about being all in with Rotary and her journey to becoming all in with this organization. She said that November is Rotary Foundation month and gave an update on the number of clubs (36,000) and members (1.4 million) in Rotary International. She believes members are the most important part of Rotary because members cause everything to happen. If a member abides by the Four Way Test and Service Above Self, then so much can be done. She then talked about donations made to the Rotary Foundation and the impact that has on communities throughout the world. Heather concluded her talk by giving RCSE a challenge. She challenged all of us to get involved, learn more about Rotary, to get off the back bench and to say "yes!" If you imagine big, then you will make an impact!
