Today's meeting ushered in a new Board for the upcoming 2017-2018 Rotary year! Before officer initiation took place, Beth Hancock participated in her last banner exchange as President. A fellow Rotarian from Turkey, Ilknur Ozer, and her family came to the RCSE meeting. Ilknur participated in the GSE program with our district 5 years ago and wanted her family to see what Southern hospitality was all about. RCSE did a great job accomplishing Ilknur's goal! After the banner exchange, Beth was able to present Bob Trainor with a Paul Harris Fellow certificate and pin for becoming a first time Paul Harris Fellow - congrats Bob! Then it was time for officer installation led by Bruce Montogmery.
President Ben Brewer said that he is excited to serve and is hopeful to present many opportunities throughout his year for members to volunteer and become more involved in the club. Sandy Sherrill then spoke to the club about the club website and how to log into the new database (ClubRunner). On the website, members can find bulletins, upcoming speakers, weekly duties, and many more things relevant to all that is going on in the club. Sandy encouraged everyone to log in order to update contact information. To log in, please go the website www.rotaryclubofsavannaheast.org and click on Member Area in the top right corner of the page. If you have any questions, you may contact Kerri at rotarysavannaheast@gmail.com and she help with the log in process.
Mark your calendar for July 20th! Savannah East along with members from Savannah South and West will have a night out at Grayson Stadium for a Savannah Bananas game. $15 bucks and all you care to eat of their fabulous hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, chips, popcorn and soft drinks! What a deal! For every ticket Rotarians buy for this game, $5 will be donated to the Savannah Early Childhood Foundation. RCSE will cover the cost of a member's ticket. If you want to bring a guest, then you will need to purchase a ticket for them for $15. You can RSVP to Kerri at the upcoming meetings. Please note that this event will take the place of our meeting on Friday, July 21.
Haven Elementary is one of the service projects RCSE has chosen for the upcoming 2017-2018 year and there are two opportunities to volunteer in July! The first is the Back to School Breakfast for the teachers on Friday, July 28 from 7:30 am - 8:30 am. This is a great way to meet the teachers and administrators at Haven as well as see the new building! We will need members to serve and provide breakfast items. The second opportunity is on Sunday, July 30 from 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm at Haven Elementary's Open House. Haven has asked for a few of our members to aide in the Open House by greeting and directing parents as they come into the building. Sign up's for both events will be at the check-in table at the next 3 meetings. So, mark your calendars and volunteer!
Paul Tatum is asking for input from members of RCSE who would like to help bring in new and interesting speakers. If you have an interest or any ideas regarding future speakers, please contact Paul at 770-367-6119 or Paul.Tatum@uss.salvationarmy.org
